Today we know the USA as the only superpower in the world because of their military strenght.
But for me, Sweden is a bigger superpower than the US. Our military can't defend us for more than a few days, but we have done and continue to do something the US have failed with: We are spreading our ideals and our ethics all over the world. "The swedish model" is just a phrase used in socialistic propaganda to hide what Sweden really has: A trade union mafia, the highest taxes in the world, a school which education is more biased than the education is in John Kerry's dream world etc.
If you occupy a country, the population will hate you. They might obey your orders, but you will never win their hearts (I'm not talking about liberation wars now, like the Iraq war). Their is also a great risks for risings and revolutions. It's almost impossible to avoid Guerilla wars.
If you occupy the people's heart, they will do the rest of the job. If you invent and spread an economical/political model, and foreign people like it, they will vote for parties that supports your model. That way, you can control a country without risking revolutions and other stuff like that. Who needs military? The only thing that matters is propaganda.
So far, Sweden have occupied 48% (the exact percent differes from poll to poll) of the american population. We still haven't shot anyone, we don't have to. This is an effective way of occupying a country, because that country can't fire back. What should they fire at?
You can't shot homosexuality, you can't bomb abortions and you can't throw a hand grenade on high taxes.
Therefore I would say Sweden is a superpower, although in another way than the US.
